Ellie has not disappointed her lineage. She insists on having massive litters (3, 4, 5, 6) and has successfully fed five kids to the point of weaning (not our favorite but work schedules prohibit fully bottle raising kids). She hasn’t ever lost condition milking… if anything she likes to stay thicc. When we’ve weaned kids/transitioned to once-a-day, she hasn’t maintained the 4-5+lbs she starts out with but still puts a respectable 2-3lbs in the pail midway through her lactations. She's a deep-bodied doe, broad from her head to her rump. Her udder follows suit, scoring in the 30s for RUH, foreudder and arch. We have always machine milked but she’d be well-suited to a hand milker with the largest teats in the herd (sometimes our Nigerian inflations pop off due to their size). Ellie is reluctantly offered for sale with one (possibly both) of her 2022 kids by Redstone Nigel Gacrux. She’s the type of doe you talk yourself out of selling as you write the ad, but she’d make a really nice foundation doe for someone. Only available to a home where she’ll upgrade from the care she has here and to a herd who intends to let her grow old in retirement once she’s done working. She is a very easy kidder and should have a couple more years of milking ahead of her before she hangs up the bucket and eats just for fun.
